Student Day announced for Thursday, March 30

Atlanta, GA :The fourth edition of Techtextil North America (TTNA), the International Trade Fair and Symposium for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens, will be held March 28 - 30, 2006, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, GA.   With several exciting topics and a prominent industry leader as the keynote speaker, this year’s Symposium will continue to demonstrate its value and relevance.
In addition, special features like “Student Day” will generate further interest and participation from the entire industry.

Greg Rogowski, President and CEO of Performance Fibers, will be the featured keynote speaker for the fourth Techtextil Symposium North America (TTSNA), March 28-30, at Cobb Galleria in Atlanta. Performance Fibers is a multi-national manufacturing company with production sites on three continents and a global leader and resource for fibers and fabrics for many technical textile areas. They have emerged as a focused fiber producer from Honeywell, formerly Allied Signal, and have since obtained Diolen and other operations worldwide. Rogowski had extensive industry experience as well as major roles in fiber marketing and management prior to assuming the presidency of Performance Fibers. Bill Smith, Industrial Textile Associates and TTSNA director says “Rogowski and Performance Fibers are enthusiastic about the industry and positive about its outlook; they represent what the industry is evolving into. It’s a true global marketplace and they are actively building for its future as a strong player in that arena. We are pleased to have Greg as keynote to lead off the industry’s most important technical textiles symposium.”

The textile industry marketplace has changed and continues to evolve. The technical textiles segment of the industry is no exception. TTSNA will focus on and highlight many of the areas where growth is prominent and will help shape the future of the industry.

The plenary session will feature Rogowski and a distinguished panel of industry experts and participants. Topics will include putting the industry in perspective by Bill Smith; economist and consultant Dr. Stephen Metzger on dealing with an international marketplace; Jim Leonard, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Textiles, Department of Commerce, on trade issues; and Karl Spilhaus, president of the National Textile Association, the industry’s leading and most inclusive trade association, with insight on how the industry will face the challenges of change.

TTSNA, first held in 2000, has quickly become the industry’s leading symposium with previous events receiving rave reviews. There will be 13 sessions and presentations by over 70 industry experts addressing a variety of relevant issues. Topics include technical textiles R&D at the university level, advanced nonwovens, developments in fibers, emerging technology, specialty applications, protection for law enforcement and military, automotives, user driven future technology, as well as the hottest topic in the industry – nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology, says Smith, has the potential to revolutionize our industry, improving products and making new products possible and practical – a new industrial revolution. Is this just the latest “buzzword” or is there real potential? This is such an important issue, we will have two full sessions on the subject, plus a number of the other sessions will include some aspects of nanotechnology in their programs. Nano involves molecular manipulation to achieve specific results. It is a complicated and often misunderstood technology.

TTSNA is held in conjunction with the exposition Techtextil North America. TTNA focuses on the higher end of the performance and application spectrum of technical textiles. About 300 international exhibitors are expected at Cobb Galleria and over 4,000 industry participants over the three days. Virtually all facets of the industry will be represented. Many trade and professional groups have endorsed the event, with several exhibiting.

In addition to the excitement generated by this year’s TTSNA, Messe Frankfurt will provide our future leaders an opportunity to advance themselves by participating in this year’s program and trade show.  Student Day, announced for Thursday, March 30, will give qualified academia and students the opportunity to see the trade show and the day’s sessions at no charge.  Techtextil North America will continue to provide leading edge technology and innovative new concepts by providing the necessary skills to those persons that will be responsible for these advancements in the future.
