Mirroring this positive development, the internationality of buyers also increased impressively with attendees from 46 countries registered (up from 32 countries last year). Many exhibitors were excited about the audience and the business contacts made. New international pavilions included attractive presentations from Canada and the United Kingdom joining the established groups from Belgium, France, Germany and Taiwan.

Exhibitors expressed a high level of satisfaction with the turnout of buyers at Techtextil North America. Many were positively surprised about the quality, number and internationality of the buyers attending the show. Numerous promising new contacts as well as orders written during the show or expected for post-show business were reported. Buyer surveys conducted on the show floor echoed positive reactions to the upscale presentations on the expanded show floor. New amenities like the VIP “Red Carpet” Buyer Club and an upgraded Internet Café were appreciated.

Held in conjunction with show, the Techtextil-Symposium North America was very well attended. It opened with a keynote address on Textile Trade Issues by James C. Leonard III, Deputy Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Commerce. Symposium attendees were eager to discover the latest research in the nonwovens and technical textiles industry as well as market developments. Participants praised the presentations provided by 70 renowned industry experts. One of the sessions left with standing room only dealt with “Intelligent/Smart Textiles”. Other topics leading to active discussions included new and emerging technologies, standards and testing for the industry, product development and marketing, nonwovens, automotive applications, research in new fiber technology, as well as a range of new research and product applications.
